LAHORE Pakistans Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Indias Rohan Bopanna held their nerves advance in the opening round of ATP World Tour Championship Valencia in Spain. They came back from six match points down to beat their strong rivals who are the top players of Argentina and Uruguay Juan Monaco and Pablo Cuevas. Both Monaco and Cuevas, having been ranked among top 20 singles and doubles players were in real top form. Monaco defeated World No. 4 Andy Murry earlier in the second round of this championship and Cuevas had defeated Albert Ramos Vinolas of Spain. Both enjoy great repute on the ATP Circuit for their skills in return of serves. Aisam and Rohan opened the match with full confidence and playing aggressively managed to get an early break up advantage with a 3-1 lead. By successfully holding their own, next two service games soon they were serving for the set at 5-3 when Rohan hit two strategically disastrous double faults and was broken to give a level back chance to their opponents who made no mistakes in retaining their next serves. Soon the two teams were locked in for a tie break at 6-6. Here the two teams had a see-saw for a moment but finally the Indo-Pak Express prevailed and took home the set at 7-6 (8/6). In the second set Aisam managed to set up five break points on their opponents two service games but Monaco and Cuevas managed to salvage their position. Not only that they came up with some great shots to break Rohans serve at 4-5 and won the second set with a score of 6-4. In the decider Super Tie Break again Monaco & Cuevas came up with magical performance on serve returns and were soon standing comfortable with five match points in hand at 9-4. Rohan hit two big serves to make it 6-9. The next two points were returned by Rohan and Aisam superlatively and managed to bring the score back to serve level at 8-9. Here Aisam made no mistake in serving the next two points to make it 10-9 with the help of an ace and a big serve. Their opponents took next two points to make it 11-10 and again Rohan took next two points on his serve to make it 12-11. At 12-12 however Aisam came up with a great return winner to set up first match point on their serve at 13-12. To add to the drama to the already nail biting situation he missed first serve but managed to hit a great second serve which could not be returned and gave them the win with a score of 7-6(8), 4-6, 14-12 in one hour and thirty five minutes. The winners hit 9 aces and 2 double faults while the losers hit 1 ace and 1 double fault. The winner took a total of 82 points and the looser took 80 of total 162 points played. In the quarter-final round now Indo-Pak Express will face the All Spanish duo of Marc Lopez and Davis Marrero.
