ISLAMABAD - Former Pakistan Captain Wasim Akram has said that national cricket team can grab the victory in final of Asia cup by handling the spinners well. Talking to a Private news channel, former pacer said the team is in high spirits to defend their title in Asia cup final against Sri Lanka on March 8.
He said that the Pakistan team is playing with perfect combination and all they need to do is to tackle the Sri Lankan spinners especially Ajanta Mendis. He added that by watching the videos of Mendis, his fingers movements and body language Pakistani batters can prepare well to play him. He said that at the moment national players have reached their prime and some brilliant performances by Shahid Afridi, Umer akmal and Ahmad shehzad brought the team Pakistan together as a unit. Former pacer praised Shahid Afridi for his batting against arch -rivals India and hosts Bangladesh saying that Afridi is in his 'supreme best' and he did not have words for Afridi's 'remarkable' and 'amazing' batting. The former pacer also mentioned the brilliant century of opener Ahmed Shahzad saying that he constructed a crucial partnership of 105 runs at a time when Pakistan lost three quick wickets.
He also praised Fawad Alam for hitting his career's best score and said that Alam has made a comeback in the team after over three years and delivered exactly when team needed the most. He added that Pakistan should take care of their bowling as they were bowling too much to the 'off-side' of the stump instead of the 'right areas'. He also added that Pakistan's poor performance in bowling would not make the final against Sri Lanka easy.
