Senator claims to have contacted ICC over fixing claims

LAHORE Chairman of Pakistans Senate Standing Committee on sports, Ghaffar Qureshi, claims to have contacted the ICC for discussion over allegations of match-fixing in Pakistan cricket. But Qureshi didnt elaborate whether the Senate committee got in touch with the ICC directly or through the Pakistan Cricket Board. Members of the Senate committee had said after a meeting with PCB officials in early June that they were shown video recordings that indicated that the menace of match fixing existed in Pakistan cricket. But PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt strongly denied this and said the Senators have made wrong assumptions and no Pakistani player was involved in match-fixing. The Senate committee then decided to contact the ICC anti-corruption and security cell to get more details on this issue. Qureshi said that the Senate committee would be meeting in the third week of July where he would brief the members about the progress made in the contacts made with the ICC.
