Rashid wins Youth Chess Championship


LAHORE - Rashid clinched the U-20 title of the Youth Chess Championship which was held at Burt Hall with cooperation of Pakistan Railways. Umer Waqas got second position in U-20 category and Ali Sipra third. Zoraiz won the first in U-16, Humza earned second and Areez third while Muhammad secured first in U-12, Ahmad Mubarik second and Mehak Ali third. Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony, Chess Federation of Pakistan secretary Dr Naeem Hamid Mirza said the federation had been striving to promote chess among the youth. “Pakistan is the sixth largest country in the world and it has no dearth of talent so there is a dire need of motivating youth to earn laurels.” He congratulated the youth and assured them his all-out support.
