Afridi fit for next assignments

ISLAMABAD – Shahid Afridi termed his meeting with Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif as a great honour for him. Talking to The Nation, Afridi said: “It was not a planned meeting as I was invited to GHQ Rawalpindi, where the Army chief met me and presented a shield to me for completing my 17 years in international cricket.” “The Gen not only lauded my contributions for Pakistan cricket but also termed me a role model for the youngsters. I will continue to strive for the country and fully aware about the responsibilities the senior players have. I am spending time in the nets to keep myself fit for upcoming international assignments with Asia Cup and T20 World Cup are my top priorities. I will try to play key role in helping the green shirts lift the T20 title and retain the Asia Cup.”–Staff Reporter
