Lions title win to serve LCCA cause of game development



LAHORE - Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) president Khawaja Nadeem Ahmad has said that Lahore Lions title victory in the National Twenty20 Cricket Tournament will support the efforts of association for the further development of the game at grass root level.
Talking to this scribe here on Monday, Kh Nadeem said: “This success will infuse a renewed interest among the youth to take up cricket as a sport besides supplementing our ongoing efforts for the revival of the game at early level.”
Nadeem said it was a positive sign for Lahore cricket that its team won the National T20 title after two years and the success had given a new identity to its cricket. It may be mentioned here that Lahore team also won the National Twenty20 title two years ago when Nadeem took over as the president ending a 23-year long regime of previous president Aamir Hayat Rokhari.
“In previous three years, we did our best to revive the game by taking a number of drastic measures and now that stage is coming to concentrate more on speeding up our efforts for the further development of the game,” he said.
He Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) organised the T20 in a trend setting manner with the cooperation of Punjab government and both the institutions did their best for the successful holding of the premier event.
He said the successful holding of T20 tournament was a step forward for the resumption of international cricket in Pakistan and the PCB under the dynamic leadership of its chairman Ch Zaka Ashraf was making gradual progress in this regard. “The peaceful holding of T20 tournament will send a positive message to the concerned international cricket quarters and the outer world that Pakistan is a safe venue for international cricket events which is ready in all aspects including security to stage international cricket matches here,” the LCCA chief concluded.
