PCB should use golden time in hunting fresh blood

ISLAMABAD - Former Test player and coach of Pakistan team Mohsin Hasan Khan has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) not to take the decision of national T20 skipper appointment in hurry as they have ample time in taking this important decision.
Talking to The Nation, Mohsin Khan said: “The PCB should take time before appointing Twenty20 captain and ODI and Test team vice captain as it is not the right time to take hasty decisions which can further dampen spirits of the players and the team can't afford division at this stage rather the team needs buck-up from different quarters.
“If I were the chief selector or coach of the team, I would have given chance to Misbah in T20 matches as he is the most experienced batsman in the middle order and was badly missed in the recently-concluded World T20. Had Misbah been part of the playing XI, the results could have been far different as he could have saved the team from disastrous loss against West Indies,” he added.
Mohsin further said: “The PCB should utilize this golden time and invite all the domestic circuit performers to form different teams based on their performances. Then selected players must be provided opportunities in shape of friendly matches between them and then against national team. It will help in finding fresh blood which the national team badly needed.”
When asked about Afridi's media outburst against captain and team, Mohsin replied: “The PCB must take that as per their set criteria for every contracted player and implement what is right and what is wrong. No one should consider himself above the sports and everybody must follow the set patron.”
It is pertinent to mention Mohsin during his two-month tenure as a coach guided green shirts to three series victories, but he was replaced with Dave Whatmore, who managed to provide not more than ordinary and mixed results, while Moin Khan proved himself a complete failure.
Now coaches demand more time, but what was the reason behind showing Mohsin door, despite exceptional results. Instead of wasting precious time and money, the PCB must look at a person, who is a proven stuff and can help the team earn more victories.
