I take captaincy as a challenge: Misbah

LAHORE Newly appointed Pakistan Test captain Misbahul Haq has said he had accepted the leadership role in the team as a challenge. Talking to journalists here at the Gaddafi Stadium, Misbah said: If we follow the criticism of the people we cannot even live our lives. I am determined to lead the team with example. He further said that he was in high spirit albeit leading the Faisalabad Wolves, he made just three runs. Misbah was dumped from the Pakistan squad after a poor show in New Zealand and Australia earlier this year. His poor show continued even in the World Twenty20 in the Caribbean. He made surprise comeback in the team as a captain of the Test side. He is Pakistans fourth Test captain during the year after Younus Khan, Muhammad Yousuf, Shahid Afridi and Salman Butt who was suspended by the ICC for his alleged involvement in spot-fixing. Its not due to my role as captain of Faisalabad Wolves but it is my 10 years experience in the game in different teams that make me strong enough a captaincy candidate. As far as leading in the longer version of the game is concerned, I think nobody knows about the future of a player and his leadership qualities until he is tried and tested, he added.
