LAHORE - Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee (MC) chairman Najam Sethi has decided to appoint a Director Media to run the affairs of the board in a befitting manner.
The inside sources Wednesday told this scribe that the PCB had created a new post of Director Media and Amjad Bhatti, who is a DGPR official, would join the board today (Thursday). “Amjad will be joining the cricket board on deputation and will take charge as PCB Director Media today (Thursday). The notification in this regard will also be issued today.”
The sources further said that more changes in the board were also on the cards. “Those who are incompetent and burden on the board’s budget will be shown the doors and new competent and skilled persons will be brought in to run the affairs of the PCB in befitting manners,” the sources added.
They stated that Intikhab Alam was likely to get some important responsibilities due to having good relations with Sethi. “Earlier, Intikhab was demoted to Director Domestic designation but now, he will be given major responsibilities in the cricket board keeping aside his age factor,” they asserted.
“At one hand, the PCB is saying that there will be rightsizing in the board to improve its finances while on the other hand, it is creating more and more new posts to accommodate the blue-eyed ones which will further puncture the PCB’s already thin kitty. By doing so, the PCB chief is trying to give a single bottle double neck as PCB has already a GM Media in Nadeem Sarwar, who is also enjoying the post since long due to his political connections. Instead of replacing him, creating a new post will certainly burden the board with new expenses,” the sources concluded.
