ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday issued notice to the Secretary Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) and sought reply on a plea seeking nullification of appointment of Najam Sethi as Pakistan Cricket Board chairman.
A single member bench of IHC comprising Justice Nooor-Ul-Haq N Qureshi resumed hearing of a plea filed by Ahmed Nawaz a candidate and former secretary regional cricket board through his lawyer Abdul Razaq Rajab against the federation. During the course of hearing, counsel for petitioner Abdul Razaq Rajab apprised the court that the suppression of the PCB and dissolving of Governing Board as well as removal of the PCB chairman was against the PCB’s constitution.
He argued that the notification was issued just to appoint Sethi as PCB chairman and all the other things are engineered to appoint him on the said office. The impugned notification was issued for the purpose of appointing Sethi as PCB chairman against the judgment and orders passed by the High Court, he added. He alleged that due the act of the respondent the game of the Cricket which is becoming the national Game and is source of Diplomacy also suffering irreparable loss, adding that they have made the chair of the PCB chairman as "musical chair".
The petitioner prayed the court to declare the act of the Management Committee for appointing Sethi as PCB chairman illegal, unlawful and set aside. It may be mentioned here that Sethi was appointed PCB chairman by the management committee formed following the sacking of Zaka Ashraf.
