ISLAMABAD As many as 24 affiliated soccer clubs with Islamabad Football Association (IFA) showed their confidence in Dr. Shahzad Wasim and jointly nominated him their candidate for the president of IFA in next elections. They also nominated their candidates Syed Maqbul Hussian Naqvi and Manzar Bashir for two vacant seats of general secretary and finance secretary respectively. The heads of 24 clubs met on Monday night at the residence of Dr. Shahzad Wasim to discuss the affairs of Islamabads football. At the starting of the meeting Irfan Naizi was also present but walked out later. Former president IFA Dr. Fazal-ul-Rehman did not attend the meeting. Presidents of Falcon Club, Federal Club, Al-Faisal Club, CDA Club, Education Club, Evergreen Club, Gungal Club, Ghori Club, Hadiry Club, Huma Club, Islamabad Club, United Club, Jinnah Club, Kiran Club, Mehran Club, Millat Club, Model Town Club, Pone Club, Pak Sporting Club, Quaid-e-Azam Club, Ramna Club, Ravi Club, Rorer Club and Youth Power Club were present in the meeting. I am willing to contribute my services to the promotion of football in the capital city. I do not want to become part of any controversy. I will try my best to lift the standard of the soccer in Islamabad, said Dr Shahzad.
