Aisam to play Davis Cup tie against Philippines



ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tennis ace Aisam ul Haq Qureshi has confirmed his availability for the forthcoming Davis Cup tie against Philippines starting from April 6 to 8th, the tie was scheduled to be played in Pakistan but International Tennis Federation has instead awarded the tie to Philippines, and now the tie would be played in Manila.
Meanwhile talking exclusively with The Nation on Tuesday, Pakistan Tennis Federation Secretary Mumtaz Yousaf told this scribe that Pakistan Tennis Federation has already filed an appeal against the decision of the ITF's Davis Cup Committee against the shifting of the said tie from Pakistan to Philippines on the advice of the security consultant of ITF as per whom there maybe security concerns regarding holding of the tie in Pakistan.
Mumtaz Yousaf further said, the training camp for that important fixture would be held from March 25th at Senator Dilawar Abbas Tennis Complex, Islamabad, he further adds: in case ITF rejects PTF's appeal then Pakistan team would leave for Philippines in the first week of April. Pakistan Davis Cup team will consist of the following players, Aisam ul Haq Qureshi, Aqeel Khan, Yasir Khan and young fast rising star M Abid, Mumtaz concluded.
