LAHORE - Sports Writers Association of Punjab (SWAP) came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Sports Journalists Association of Lahore (SJAL) here at the Model Town Football Academy (MTFA) ground on Thursday.
Chaudhary M Ashraf-led SJAL XI gained lead through Ghalib Bajwa’s brilliant field goal in the first half and SWAP equalised five minutes before close of the play when Hafiz Imran produced a field goal. Amir Raza captained SWAP XI and missed a number of chances on the sitters created by their ace forward Sohail Ali while Azhar Masood Khan and Mansoor Khan proved to be good defenders as they foiled most of the attacks of SJAL team preventing to score further goals. Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) secretary Lt Col (retd) Ahmad Yar Lodhi was the chief guest on the occasion and both the teams were introduced to him before the start of the play. MTFA chief Mian Rizwan Ali was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, PFF Secretary said it was good to see mediamen engaged in a healthy activity. He urged both the teams to play similar matches on regular basis to maintain a good level of health. He also praised the efforts of Mian Rizwan for making excellent arrangement for the smooth conduct of the match.
