KARACHI - ANISUDDIN KHAN - Pakistan Army established its complete superiority over a weak PWD team with 4-0 drubbing of its opponents in the group league match of KPT National Football Challenge Cup here at the Peoples Football stadium on Wednesday.
Leading 1-0 at half time the soldiers struck thrice in the second session to clinch full three points in the fifteen team championship which is being sponsored by KPT to mark 125th year of its establishment.
It took Pakistan Army 39th minuets to break the deadlock and take the lead. Mid fielder Akhtar Hussain found the net just before the teams broke for half time rest. Soon after resumption Soldiers doubled its advantage with Imran Hussain hitting the target.
The PWD which had put up some resistance in the first session was swept away before Army onslaught in second half and before the final hooter was sounded the soldiers added two more goals. Ansar Abbbas and M Jameel with a goal each completed the score line.
In another match of the competition played at the KPT football stadium Pakistan Navy defeated National Youth B 2-0 scoring a goal on either side of the half time. Asif Mahmood broke the ice in the 20th minute to put the sailors one up and Abdul Haq made it 2-0 in 60th minute.
At the same venue in the third match of the day Pakistan Airforce struggled throughout the game to score and finally in 82nd minute it succeeded in getting the only goal of the contest which proved winning goal with Sher Ali booting the ball home.
