SBP timely steps restored Pakistan’s soft image

LAHORE - The Sports Board Punjab (SBP) timely intervention and measures thwarted efforts of some quarters for spoiling Pakistan’s soft image that the witness team present during the record breaking ceremonies of the Punjab Youth Festival (PYF) 2014 was not acknowledged by Guinness World Record Book.
“As soon as this propaganda surfaced, the SBP got into action and Provincial Minister for Sports Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan along with Director General SBP Usman Anwar gave the facts and figures during their interaction with the media which helped the public and lovers of the festival to know the true picture,” said SBP spokesman here Tuesday.
He said the SBP officially contacted the GWR which in return had confirmed in writing that Pakistan created the World Records in the presence of the GWR warranted representatives and it had already uploaded the record of creating national flag and would also upload the other records soon. “So far during the PYF 2014, 33 records have been attempted, while Rana Mashhood and Usman Anwar are hopeful of attempting and creating of another 100 records during the ongoing festival. The GWR further said that other 32 record attempts would be registered after their official sorting out process is completed,” he concluded.
