Wasim wants Ahmed Shahzad next T20 captain

ISLAMABAD - Former batsman Mohammad Wasim has suggested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to appoint Ahmed Shahzad as the next Twenty20 captain saying he can work on his management skills and learn as quickly as possible.
The T20 captaincy has been vacant since after the resignation from Muhammad Hafeez. Ahmed Shahzad, who has been currently training in the summer camp kept by PCB at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, said it is up to the authorities to decide who will be the next T20 captain. "My job is to play under any captain," he said.
Wasim said Ahmed should also replace Misbahul Haq as ODI captain after the 2015 World Cup, with Azhar Ali taking over the role of captain from Misbah when he retires from Test cricket.
"Misbah is doing a great job in ODI, so the 2015 World Cup will be a good time for Misbah, Younis Khan and Shahid Afridi to hang up their boots from all formats," he added. Wasim said: “We will struggle for a bit but we need to look at the big picture and long term plans. After the 2015 World Cup, Ahmed Shehzad can be the right choice as ODI captain, but in the meantime, we need to groom him to ensure he is ready for the role," he said.
Wasim said captaining the Test team was a completely different job.
"For that you need someone who has cool head and also can handle the pressure well. So Azhar is the best choice after Misbah," he said.
Speaking of the future selection of the team, Wasim said: “Many eyes and hopes are set on selectors Wajahatullah Wasti and M Akram as they can make a difference. Our T20 team needs a full make-over. There are many youngsters on the domestic circuit who can do a better job at the top level," he concluded.
