ISLAMABAD - Main qualifying round of Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) International Squash Championship 2013 will start from today (Wednesday) at Roshan Khan/Jahangir Khan Squash Complex Karachi.
The event carries a total cash purse of $15,000. Twelve players have already qualified for the first round while four players will join them to complete the best of 16 draw. Nasir Iqbal is the top seed while Farhan Zaman is second seed, Danish Atlas third and Aamir Atlas Khan is seeded fourth for the event.
The first round will start from 20th while semi-finals will be held on 22nd and the final will be on 23rd. The Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) was allocated two $15,000 events by World Squash Federation (WSF) after a long gap, as previously Pakistan was holding four $10,000 events every year, but the induction of the PSF SVP Air Vice Marshal Syed Razi Nawab as the vice president of Asian Squash Federation (ASF) has helped a lot in dealing with international bodies.
Razi had demanded the world body to at least allocate two $25,000 events to Pakistan, like we were holding hefty amount tournaments in the past, but for the time being, Pakistan managed to get two $15,000 and as many $10,000 events from the WSF.
