PUNE (India) Three members of the Pakistani cricket team have been dope tested in the current series against England, it was learnt here. Speaking to this scribe, team manager Yawar Saeed said: The ICC sent their staff to take urine sample of the three members of the Pakistan team during the first Test (at Trent Bridge, Nottingham). There was no dope test during the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham). The manager didnt spell out the names of the dope-tested players but according to unconfirmed sources, Muhammad Asif, Salman Butt and Umar Gul gave urine samples in the first Test. Butt was not captaining the side in the first Test. In 2006, there was a cricket controversy involving Asif after he tested positive for anabolic steroid, Nandralone, before having a ban imposed on him overturned on appeal. Further cricket controversy followed when he was detained in Dubai suspected of having drugs and was then found to have tested positive for a banned substance during the Indian Premier League. The dope-testing is an ongoing process and the players have regularly been educated time to time by the team physio and trainer on this tour and while the players are at home, Yawar said. All cricket playing nations have recently adopted and signed the WADAs revised clause for doping tests.
