Adil's best sets up Habib Bank win

KARACHI - Seamer Ehsan Adil finished with 6 for 16 - his best figures in List A matches - to set up a six-wicket win for Habib Bank Limited against Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited in Lahore. ZTBL, choosing to bat, lost wickets right from the start and barring a 57 from Yasir Hameed and 44 from Zohaib Khan, no other batsman could come up with a significant score. Eight of their players failed to reach double digits, as Adil ran through the line up to bundle the team out for 153 in 39.1 overs. Shahid Afridi, who had withdrawn from Pakistan's ongoing series against Sri Lanka, chipped in with three wickets for HBL.
Afridi fell for a duck with the bat, but by then, HBL had all but secured the win, thanks to Bilal Shafayat's 40-ball 42, and Aftab Alam's 46 not out which included nine fours. Zohaib and Imran Khan shared four wickets for ZTBL, but HBL eventually completed the chase inside 22 overs.
Water and Power Development Authority surprised Khan Research Laboratories in Faisalabad, inflicting a seven-wicket loss to the table-toppers. It was Faisalabad's only second loss in ten matches, but they still maintain a two-point lead over second-placed National Bank. KRL, put into bat, struggled to put partnerships together - a 46-run stand for the sixth wicket being the best - and were bowled out for 157 in 44 overs. For WAPDA, M Fayaz was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 5-0-16-3. In response, WAPDA made a solid start, reaching 50 for the loss of one wicket. They lost two more by the time they progressed to 75, but unlike KRL's innings, they found two batsmen who stuck around in the middle. Mohammad Ayub, the WAPDA captain, hit an unbeaten 67 - off 102 balls - and along with wicketkeeper Kaleem Ahmed, added an unbeaten 86 runs for the fourth wicket that helped them overhaul the target in the 39th over. Left-arm spinner Kashif Bhatti's third five-wicket haul in List A cricket helped United Bank Limited to a comprehensive seven-wicket win against State Bank of Pakistan in Karachi. Bhatti finished with 5 for 30 to rattle State Bank's top and middle order, and eventually dismiss them for 115 in 30.3 overs.
State Bank were comfortable placed at 70 for 2, but lost their last eight wickets for 45 runs. Wicketkeeper Farhan Khan top-scored with 42, but eight of their batsmen could muster only single-digit scores. UBL lost three wickets during their chase, but were never really threatened. Ali Asad led from the top with 39 before he was trapped lbw by Jalat Khan in the 22nd over. But Khaqan Arsal and Saeed Bin Nasir took UBL home with more than 22 overs to spare.
