ISLAMABAD – Federal Areas reached 259 for eight in 81 overs during their second outing against Punjab on the third day of their Faysal Bank Pentangular Cup (first-class) 2011-12 match which was played here at Diamond Cricket Ground on Saturday.
Umair Khan played well and scored 71 runs while Hammad Azam added unbeaten 56, Afaq Rahim 41 and Bazid Khan 31. Raza Hasan claimed six for 55.
Javed Ashraf and Majid Hussain were the field umpires; while Allah Ditto was the match referee and Shakeel Ahmed official scorer. Federal Areas were leading by 256 rims.
KP fight back after follow-on
In another match played in National Stadium Karachi, Yasir Hameed and Shoaib Khan lead Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) with fighting half centuries to help their team to post 218/3 after the follow-on enforced by Sindh in the Pentangular Cup League Cricket Championship.
Earlier, fast bowler Sami snapped-up 4/37 and Tabish Khan got 3/57 as KP were bowled out for 192 in 60th over in their first innings. After the follow-on, KP batsmen put up a fighting show by reaching 218 for the loss of three wickets in their second innings.
Yasir Hameed batted in an attacking fashion striking nine boundaries and two sixes in his 82 off 120 balls. Yasir with Shoaib Khan added 125 runs for the third wicket.
Shoaib batted with a lot of patience, hitting seven boundaries and one six in his unbeaten 76 after facing 204 deliveries. Akbar Badshah ended the day on 45 as KP are now seven runs ahead with seven wickets in hand.
