COLORADO SPRINGS - Former world indoor and outdoor triple jump champion Walter Davis was issued a one-year ban Monday by an arbitrator for repeatedly failing to file his location with anti-doping officials. The ban announced by the US Anti-Doping Association (USADA) began last Wednesday and saw him disqualified from all results since last July 1. An independent US arbitrator found that Davis, 34, failed to properly file his whereabouts information for USADA’s random testing pool three times between July of 2012 and July of last year, which under IAAF and WADA rules constitutes a violation of protocol punishable by a suspension. Davis won the 2005 world outdoor and 2006 indoor triple jump crowns. He was a world indoor runner-up in 2003 and third at the 2007 world outdoor meet.–AFP
