RAWALPINDI - Hosts Young Rising Star Rawalpindi (YRSR) and Diya Club Karachi started their National U-16 Inter-Club Women Football Championship 2014 campaign on winning note, as they brushed aside their respective opponents in the inaugural day matches played here at Divisional Public School Football Ground on Tuesday.
MNA Malik Ibrar, MPA Raja Hanif Advocate, DCO Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar Dal, Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Director Development Perviaz Saeed Mir along with other dignitaries and respectable size of spectators were also present on the occasion.
In the first match of the day, Diya Club Karachi thrashed Young Rising Star Layyah 4-0. Kubra scored in the 8th minute to give Diya Club lead. Kiran DOUBLED THE LEAD in the 27th minute as the first half ended with Diya leading 2-0. In the second half, Diya Club players added two more goals through Rubab and Kasishma.
In the second match, Young Rising Star Rawalpindi girls beat Frontier College Peshawar girls 3-0.
Right from the start, Frontier girls settled down well and posed a lot of threats to YRFC goal, poor finishing in front of goal denied them taking early lead. Iman Masood gave YRFC lead in the 34th minute of the first half to send wild celebrations among local fans. Amreena doubled her team’s advantage in the 37th minute, before Eman Hussain completed the score line in the 59th minute.
