RAWALPINDI - Karachi reached the final of the Inter Region Under-23 Cricket Tournament 2011-12 after beating Abbottabad by five wickets in the semi-final here at Pindi Stadium on Sunday.
Karachi achieved the target of 95 runs for the loss of five wickets-in 25.4 overs in their second innings to complete the victory on final day. Israr-ul-Haq remained unbeaten on 24 while Fakhar Zaman also contributed valuable 17 runs. For Abbottabad, M Zeeshan (2-25) and Shakeel Ahmed (2-27) were the main wicket takers. Earlier Abbottabad started the day on 162 for the loss of five wickets and they were bowled out for 252 runs in 68.1 overs. Abid Khan remained their top scorer in the second innings with 70 while Khalil Ullah (57), M Zeeshan (31) and Sabyar Afridi (28) were the other notable contributors. For Karachi, Abdul Ameer (4-65), Israr-ul-Haq (3-32) and Zohaib Shera (3-56) bowled well.
