LAHORE – Overall 68 players in juniors and youth categories appeared in the national hockey trials at the Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium on Thursday. According to PHF spokesman, chief selector Islahuddin Siddiqui said 30 appeared in the junior hockey trials while 38 boys took part in the youth u-16 trials. “The PHF is holding trials to select probables for the formation of Pakistan junior and youth teams. The selection committee which also included Olympians Ayaz Mahmood, Khalid Bashir, Musaddiq Hussain, Arshad Ch, and junior team management headed by Olympian Manzoorul Hasan watched the players in action.” Islah said the final rounds of the trials will be held in Lahore on May 26. He said players whose teams would reach 33rd National Junior Hockey semi-finals would be exempted from trials.”–Staff Reporter
