ISLAMABAD - Shahid Khan Afridi had to suffer a huge embarrassment at the hands of fans, as he had invited his fans for autograph and group photo with him at National Stadium, Karachi at 5:00 pm on Sunday.
Inside sources present at the venue said it was quite disappointing that not even handful fans were witnessed at the ground. Afridi waited for 10 minutes but the situation didn't improve and he has to leave red-faced and described lack of attendance due to poor law and order situation and Peshawar blast.
Many termed this cold shoulder response as a result of on Afridi's consistent poor performances; otherwise the ground could have witnessed pack to capacity in only a matter of time.
While talking to the media men on the occasion Afridi said: “As a senior player I want to contribute for the team and country. I don't want to take things for granted and instead of becoming a liability I want to cement my place in the national squad purely on my matchless performances.”
He further said he was ready to accept any given role and want to play in T20s and ODIs regularly. “I am ready to take captaincy. Every captain has his own way of leading. I am aggressive by nature so I adopt aggressive approach. Misbah is a cool minded person and he tackles things in his own way. Pakistan are capable of beating any top side of the world. We have great bowlers. They only need exposure. It is only a matter of time, with proper grooming, they would cement their places in the squad and become world's best fast bowlers.”
He said if Pakistan should made right strategy according to opponent team. He hoped that Pakistan will perform well at UAE pitches and bounced back from the second Test loss against Zimbabwean team.
