Khawaja Junaid named hockey team manager

LAHORE Olympian Khawaja Muhammad Junaid has named the manager of Pakistan hockey team for Commonwealth Games and Asian Games in place of Manzoor Junior who has not been released by his department. If Manzoor Junior is available in this period, he will join the team as manager. Secretary PHF Asif Bajwa said that the players will assemble on September 26 and will leave for India on September 29. Zeeshan Ashraf and Kashif Javed will be part of the team after clearing their fitness tests. The tests will be taken on September 27. Asif Bajwa said that the first phase of the training of Pakistan team for Commonwealth Games and Asian Games has been completed successfully. The PHF is using its full resources for the better performance of the team and we are very much hopeful that will achieve its set targets, Bajwa added. He said that their experience to visit India in World Cup was very successful and the PHF was going to take part in the Commonwealth Games as per schedule. Pakistan team also got the NOC. PHF secretary Asif Bajwa said that Rs 1.3 million was raised from the fund raising match between Pakistan and Holland in the Netherlands, while more than 22 million Euros were raised by the Dutch NGO Giro 555 for the flood victims in Pakistan.
