PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police lifted the title after defeating Bannu in the Team Championship of SRSP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-District Badminton Championship final here on Sunday. Played at indoor hall of the Makan Bagh Sports Complex Swat, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police team maintained their winning momentum and secured 14th consecutive victory. In the first singles top-ranking player Hayat Ullah, who is 17th in the ranking at national level, got tough resistance from Kashif Nawaz Khan in the 3-1 victory. The set was tied at 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8, 9-9, 10-10, 11-11, 12-12, 17-17, 19-19, 20-20, and 21-21. Kashif was always in the deficit but he came strongly all the time to level the tally. It was in the second set where both stretched to 22-20, the set was tied to 8-8, 12-12, 17-17, 19-19, and 20-20 and at the end Hayat Ullah won the set. After 1-1, Hayat Ullah won two consecutive sets by 21-19 and 22-20. In the doubles, Kashif and Amir of Bannu beat Sadaqat Ullah and Hayat Ullah of Police by 3-0, the score was 21-19, 21-18 and 23-21. Both Kashif and Amir of Bannu showed excellent coordination against Sadaqat and Hayat Ullah. In the second, Masood of Police beat Bilal of Bannu by 3-1, the score was 17-21, 21-19, 21-18 and 21-18 while in the decisive doubles match Tahir Khan and Masood of Police recorded victory against Riaz Khan and Bilal by 3-0, the core was 21-15, 21-17 and 21-19. Earlier, Nadeem of Peshawar, Masood of Police, Haroon of Police, Tahir of Police, Kashif of Bannu and Hayat Ullah of Police took berth into the quarter-finals of the Men singles individual categories. Nadeem of Peshawar defeated Jansher of Peshawar by 3-0, the score was 21-19, 21-17 and 21-19, Police's Masood beat Khayyam of Police by 3-0, the score was 21-16, 21-15 and 21-19, Haroon of Police beat Habib of Kohat by 3-1, the score was 19-21, 21-18, 21-16 and 21-19, Tahir Khan of Police beat Kamran of Peshawar by 3-0, the score was 21-17, 21-17 and 21-19, Kashif of Bannu beat Salman of Peshawar by 3-2, the score was 21-19, 17-21, 15-21, 21-18 and 21-19 and Hayat Ullah of Police beat Wajid of Malakand by 3-1, the score was 21-19, 12-21, 21-19, 21-17.
