PCB asked to take sports equipment manufacturers on board

LAHORE - Think Tank of Sports Affairs Javed Malik of Baroda Sports proposed in open letter to Najam Sethi to incorporate his proposal in new Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) constitution in the making.
Talking to The Nation on Tuesday, Javed said: “The proposal suggests that cricket equipment manufactures should be taken on board and the PCB should act as a tool or engine to help increase exports made in Sialkot.” “If the PCB adds this clause in its constitution, it will not only give new dimensions to the export of our sports goods but also in the process help increase our Foreign Exchange Reserves and create jobs,” he added.
He further said that the PCB should be US Dollars richer on long-term basis as well as it is a win-position for all the stakeholders. “It will help the country in increasing our sports equipment export." Javed also appealed to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to include this proposal in its cricket charter because of changing scenario of the economy of the world.
He suggested others sports federations of the country to follow his proposal and promote sports manufacturers for the country’s benefit. “During any team’s foreign tour, the federations must bring sports manufacturers with them so that they may display Pakistani sports goods there to help the buyers/importers to see the quality and standard of our sports equipment and make new deals with us,” he asserted. He further suggested that there must be sports (souvenir) shops in the premises of all the stadium of the country which will attract visitors to take interest in Pakistani sports goods.
