Mediamen flex their muscles at PTBF National Bowling C’ship

KARACHI  - APP, News1, SJAS and AJJ TV/SJAS book their places in the finals of the Media category of the Second PTBF National Ranking Tenpin Bowling Championship 2013, after grabbing first four positions respectively here at Arena Bowling Center on Friday.
A total of 20 different media teams participated in the event, being organised by Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation in collaboration with Virtual Axis.
The media category got huge response from the sports journalists, as they turned up in quite a few numbers. It was a team event with every team had to field minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 players. The teams were divided into two pools. 10-teams played in the afternoon session, while same number of teams contested in the evening session. After the completion of first session, APP, Duniya TV, SJAS and Samma TV finished in top four while in the evening session News1, AJJ/SJAS, Metro1 and CNBC finished in top 4. After the completion of first round, APP team comprising Ameer Khan, Shiraz Siddiqui, Humza and Saeed Ahmed topped the leader board with total pins of 417. News1 with total pins of 382 remained second. Imran scored 108 pins, Badi-i-Zama 98, Usama 96 and Asif 80 for News1. SJAS helped by guest player Mohsin Ali, grabbed third position with 310 pins. Mohsin scored 82 pins, Rehana also made same number of pins, but she was given a 8 pins handicapped as per international rules, Zahir Ali 80 and Rashid Ali 66 while the fourth and last place on offer was booked by AJJ/SJAS combined team with 291 total pins. Ghaffar scored 110 pins, Javed 87, Samad 68 and Quratulain 28.
PTBF secretary Ijaz Ur Rehman and Virtual Axis CEO Khawaja Ahmed Mustaqeem were the chief guests on the occasion. Speaking at the occasion Ijaz said: “We have decided to include media category just to provide a much-needed break to journalists from their otherwise very tight and busy schedule and to aware them about this wonderful game, as no one can understand the particular sport without understanding the basic rules.”
Sharing his views Khawaja Ahmed thanked journalists for turning up in such a huge numbers and making the event a success. The professional category matches will start from today with more than top 60 professional bowlers will be seen in action.
