CAS International Squash reaches semi-finals stage

ISLAMABAD - Nasir Iqbal, Aamir Atlas, Farhan Zaman and Danish Atlas Khan Thursday booked their berths in CAS International Squash Championship 2013 semifinals at Hashim Khan Squash Complex, Peshawar.
Although Nasir and Danish did manage to carve out victories against their opponents, yet it was not an easy task as they had to face a stiff resistance from them. Both Nasir and Danish survived scares before winning their respective matches.
In the first quarterfinal, Nasir beat M Saqib Yousaf 3-2. Nasir lost the first game 12-14 before winning the second and third games 11-4 and 11-7, but Saqib then bounced back and took the fourth game 11-9 to take the match into fifth and deciding game. Nasir used his experience to win the game 11-8, thus set up a semifinal date with Farhan Zaman.
In the second quarterfinal, Farhan Zaman beat Farhan Mahboob 11-6, 12-10. In the third quarterfinal, Danish struggled hard to beat former national champion Mansoor Zaman 3-2. Danish won the first game 13-11 before losing the second 8-11 and third 7-11. Danish gained cruise control in the fourth game winning 11-1, but it was see saw battle in the fifth and deciding game as both the players fought for each and every point. Danish finally won the game 12-10 to set a semi-final clash with his elder brother Aamir Atlas. In the fourth and final quarterfinal, Aamir Atlas outclassed Nosherwan Kahn 3-1.  Nasir will play against Farhan in the first semifinal at 3pm while Aamir will face Danish in the second at 4pm.
