New Chairman of the PCB Zaka Ashraf on Friday assumed charge while Javed Miandad and other board officials welcomed him. During a quick chat with media, Zaka said that he is proud of his friendship with President Zardari adding he will perform his duties honestly and sincerely. Pakistan cricket's new chief Zaka Ashraf says he thinks all-rounder Shahid Afridi still has plenty to offer as a one-day player. Afridi quit international cricket after developing differences with former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt and ex-coach Waqar Younis. Afridi made himself available for national selection after Ashraf took over from Butt earlier this month and Younis stepped down due to personal reasons. Ashraf says he and Afridi will meet soon to discuss the player's future. He told media that he has no experience but with sheer consultations of senior players he will bring back cricket to glory. He further added that Pakistan is blessed with talent, however stressed the need to improve academies in Pakistan so that new talent can be unveiled.
