ISLAMABAD - Four-member Pakistan Davis Cup team left for Colombo, Sri Lanka Monday from Karachi for Davis Cup tie against Sri, which will be played from February 1 to 3.
Aisamul Haq Qureshi, Aqeel Khan, Yasir Khan and M Abid will represent Pakistan. Talking to this scribe on Monday, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) treasurer Arif Qureshi said: “The main aim of sending our team earlier is to provide them a chance to acclimatise them with the Lankan conditions.”
He said the fact that Pakistan had never lost to Sri Lanka would put an extra pressure on the hosts but it was also true that current lot of Pakistani players had never played against the same opponents. “We have tried to provide similar conditions to the boys in the 12-day camp and we were very fortunate that Aisam also joined the camp for the last two days and had a very good practice session with other three players which will prove beneficial for the team. It also provided youngsters Yasir and Abid with an opportunity to learn from Aisam and boost their confidence.”
