Lucky Star stun XI-Star Club in Islamabad T20 Cup

ISLAMABAD - Islamabad T20 Cricket Cup 2013 witnessed the first major upset as Lucky Star Club stunned XI-Star Club by nine runs in a cliffhanger encounter here at Margahzar Cricket Ground on Thursday.
XI-Star Club failed to chase down a total of 133 set by Lucky Star. Faizan Riaz's 51 failed to save his side from defeat. It was a major upset of the tournament as Lucky Star qualified for the quarterfinals. Diamond Club registered its second victory of the event by defeating Rawal Town Club by six wickets here at Diamond Club ground. Ali Sarfraz played a sheet-anchor role by scoring unbeaten 45.
Islamabad Greeners defeated Millat by a massive margin of 157 runs with Umair Sharif hitting 93 here at Punjab Club Ground. Islamabad Greener's 229 runs was the highest total of the tournament so far with talented Umair Sharif hitting 41-ball 93. Wajid Ali (55) and Syed Farooq Mehmood (44) also batted well. Helped by unbeaten 80 by Kashif Majeed, Asif Memorial managed to beat All Lucky Stars by 14 runs here. Kashif hit 80 and M Irfan 40.
Atif Ashraf (65) powered Islamabad Hawks to move into quarterfinal by beating Shaheen Club by 82 runs in a one-sided contest here at Margahzar Ground. Islamabad Hawks scored 182-6 and reduced Shaheen Club to only 100 runs. Young Sajawal Riaz impressed with his steady unbeaten 45 before Classic Club beat Quaid-e-Azam Club by 8 wickets here at Diamond Club Ground. Quaid-e-Azam Club set a target of 106 which Classic achieved the target in 17 overs.
Powerful 63 by Yahya helped Junoon Club to secure an eight-wicket win over Warriors here at Punjab Club. Imran Memorial defeated National Club by 8 runs in a keenly contested game here at Shalimar Cricket Ground. Faisal Masroor scored 51 for the winners. M Umer hit unbeaten 50 to give Quaid-e-Azam Club an eight-wicket win over Lashings Club here at XI-Star Ground. Hafiz Umiar blasted a 28-ball 51 to help Al-Fateh recording a 17-run win over Margalla here at XI-Star Ground. Ghulam Rasool claimed a 4-wicket haul for the winners.
