Ghazanfar leads CNS Golf Championship

LAHORE - Ghazanfar Mehmood of Rawalpindi Golf Club with a gross score of 69, three under par leads the first round in the three rounds Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Golf at the Royal Palm Golf Course on Thursday.
Pakistan No1 amateur golfer Ghazanfar dominated day one. Teeing off early in the morning along with Tariq Mehmood (Navy) and Sajid Khan (ASGCC), Ghazanfar started with a massive 280 yards opening tee shot that reflected control and ability and from thereon. It was all excellence over the eighteen holes.
On his way to accumulating an extremely decent 18 holes score, he was aided by his birdies on holes 2, 7, 12, 13, 15 and 16. Over the 18 holes, he had six birdies, nine regulation pars and encountered stroke losses on holes 10, 11 and 17.
"I just felt great on the first day and my putter was at my beck and call on all the 18 greens and I hope the feel stays with me on the remaining two days,” he said. Tariq Mehmood of Navy was tied second at a gross score of 74, two over par along with Imran Ahmed of Lahore Gymkhana who is also at the same score.
In the net category, the race is on between Omer Zia (Gymkhana) placed at a net score of 70 along with Raza Ali Khan of Royal Palm who is also placed at net 70 while Abdullah Sharif was at 71 followed by Dr Dildar Hussain, Hussain Hamid, Danish Javed, Ahmed Kayani, Nasir Irshad, Usman Cheema and M Hassan Saeed. The ladies event will tee off today (Friday) at 12 noon.
