Samir ousts Alboneti to reach Jordan ITF Jr final

LAHORE Pakistan tennis sensation Samir Iftikhar stormed into the final of the ITF Junior World Ranking Oman International Tennis Tournament. Reports received here said that the Pakistans pride on ITF World Ranking Circuit displayed outstanding tennis to oust Italys Kevin Alboneti in straight sets 6/2, 6/4 to reach his maiden ITF Junior World Ranking final of the tournament being held at Sports City Tennis Stadium. The seventh seeded Italian had earlier upset Arjun Kandhe of India in the quarter-finals and had reached in the singles final of the first leg of the ITF Oman Open. Samir displayed brilliant return of serves and passing shots to undo the Italian resistance. With his powerful strokes, he broke the Italian serve twice in the fifth and seventh games and followed it with sizzling serves to win the first set 6/2. The Italian gave some resistance in the second set by holding serves till fourth games each when Samir broke Alboneti with magnificent backhand down the line passing shot at break point to lead 5/4 and held his serves two aces to clinch the set and match at 6/4. He will now face Tom Diedrich of Luxemburg in the finals. Samir, later talking on phone said: I played really well today and hope that I shall pull the ITF junior title this time round. I am really thankful to the sports minister Ijaz Jhakrani, the ITF and sponsors of my trip New Age Cables for their support and hope I shall lift the title to make them and the country pride.
