Nasir beaten in Hong Kong

ISLAMABAD - Nasir Iqbal bowed out fighting in the first round match against fourth seed Karim Abdel Gawad of Egypt after losing the battle 3-1 in the HKFC International 2013 $25,000 Championship currently underway at HK Football Club. Talking to The Nation on Thursday, Nasir said: “It was really a tough match and I tried to put up a decent show. Had I was fully fit, I could have done better against the No 4 seed of the event, but he played really well and he deserved to win the match.” “The first game was really good as both of us played high standard squash. I lost the first game 9-11, but I then bounced back in the second game and won the it 11-4. The third game was not as good as I was expecting and I lost the it 6-11 while the fourth game was a treat to watch for the pack to capacity crowd as both of us tried to match each other. The game was played on a very high pace and at one stage, I was lagging behind 7-3, but I bounced back and leveled the game 7-7. I committed a mistake at a very crucial stage which cost me the game 12-10 and also the match.” –Staff Reporter
