SIALKOT - Hundreds of anguished PML-N activists set up a protest camp near General Bus Stand in Sambrial against the candidacy of “what they called”, imported candidate by the party constituency PP-131 Sambrial (Sialkot-XI) here.
Local PML-N leaders including the party Sambrial city Vice President Rana Dilshad Ahmed and Tehsil vice president Muhammad Shakeel Gujjar led the protest camp. The participants were carrying banners and placards and chanted slogans against the nomination of “outsider” as the party candidate here.
Earlier, they also took out a rally in this regard. The rally began from Lorry Adda Sambrial and ended at Sambrial Morr after passing through all main inter-city roads. Later, talking to the newsmen here, Rana Dilshad Ahmed and Muhammad Shakeel Gujjar said that the PML-N provincial leadership had fielded an “imported candidate” in shape of Ch Arshad Javaid Warraich, who did not belonged to this constituency. They said that the nomination of local candidate by PML-N was the basic right of the local people of Sambrial and any outsider candidate was not acceptable to them. They said that the PML-N had decided to field Arshad Javaid Warraich by ignoring the outgoing PML-N MPA Ch Liaqat Ali Ghuman in this constituency and that was a great injustice with the local PML-N workers. They said that Arshad Javaid Warraich had been a very close aide of PML-Q backed the then speaker national assembly Chaudhry Ameer Hussain. Warraich was a big property developer and a leading rice exporter from Sialkot and PML-N central leader Khawaja Muhammad Asif has brought Arshad Javaid Warraich into the constituency of Sambrial. The Sambrial based PML-N workers and leaders have urged the provincial leadership of PML-N to withdraw Arshad Warraich from Sambrial constituency and field a native as the party candidate from the constituency.
They also warned to observe hunger strike if the candidacy of the imported candidate was not withdrawn.
