RAWALPINDI – The Punjab Textbook Board (PTB) has failed to arrange supply of books in the market while the new academic year is going to start on Monday.Like previous years, the students of both private and public schools, who have been promoted to next classes, are facing problems as many books of the Punjab Textbook Board are not available in the market. Parents have urged the authorities concerned to ensure the availability of textbooks in the market, so that children could start their studies without wasting time. According to a survey conducted in this regard, many textbooks of Punjab Textbook Board including mathematics books of Class 7 and 8, science book of Class 7 and chemistry, physics and biology books of Class 10 are short in the market, whereas parents and students are trying their level best to find them.Amjad said that his son studying in Class 7 in a government school, has searched for the Maths book in various markets of the town, but in vain. He urged the concerned authorities to ensure the availability of the textbooks and also requested the schoolteachers not to force children to bring the books which are not available in the markets. Booksellers in Urdu Bazaar and Saddar said that the parents’ complaints about the non-availability of some textbooks were true. They were informed in mid March that they would get the books within a few days, but they were still waiting for them. A spokesperson of Punjab Textbook Board said few days back, only the textbooks of Class 7 were not available in the market, but now their availability is being ensured. He also claimed that the textbooks of Class 3, 7, 8 and 10 are available in the market.
