SIALKOT - Hundreds of paddy growers and farmers on Sunday protested against unavailability of fertilisers especially urea in Pasrur. They took out a rally which started and ended at Kutchery Chowk after passing through the main city roads. The protesters were carrying banners and placards and chanting anti-government slogans. The fertilisers crisis worsening day by day following the failure of Sialkot district administration in controlling the situation. They said that the district administration was busy in making the Sasta Ramazan Bazaars successful by utilising all the energies there and ignoring other issues of the district. The perturbed paddy growers said that there was a shortage of the urea fertiliser in the region and the paddy growers and farmers were facing difficulties due to unavailability of urea. The awful situation was causing inordinate delay in sowing of paddy crops. They pointed out that the fertilisers dealers were selling the DAP fertilisers at Rs 1,600 to 1,700 per bag in black market against the fixed official rate of Rs 1,245 per bag in Sialkot, Daska, Bhopalwala, Sambrial, Uggoki-Bajwat, Pasrur, Chawinda, Satrah, Badiana, Mianwali Bangla and surrounding areas. They said that that the district governments remained unable to check the practice. They added that the dealers were selling the fertiliser at Rs 1,600 to Rs 1,700 per bag, creating artificial shortage of the urea fertiliser in this region.
