ISLAMABAD (Online) - Retirement of four lieutenant generals on the same day in coming September is likely to prompt at least an equal number of promotions and top level reshuffle in the Pakistan Army. Well-placed sources told Online on Sunday that September 21 was the retirement date of four senior most army officials presently holding key positions including the Quetta Corps. Sources said Corps Commander Quetta Lt-Gen Javed Zia, Chairman Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) Lt-Gen Shujat Zamir Dar, Military Secretary to GHQ and Col Commandant Northern Light Infantry Regiment Lt-Gen Mohsin Kamal and Commander Army Strategic Force Command Lt-Gen Jamil Haider would complete their service together on September 21. Since promotion to the rank of Lt-Gen in Pakistan Army is vacancy-based, these retirements would enable promotions of four major generals, the sources said observing, Transfers and postings on promotion of four Lt-Generals and an equal number of major generals would certainly cause reasonable reshuffle in the top two-tiers of the army. Consequently, creation of vacancies in the ranks of major generals would be filled up through promotion of SOPs and vice versa.
