Balochistan: 510 went missing in 2013: VBMP

QUETTA - Voice for Baloch Missing Persons chairman Nasrullah Baloch said that 510 persons were forcibly whisked away while 161 tortured bodies were discovered during 2013 in Balochistan.
Addressing a news conference at the Press Club here Tuesday, he said that the rulers after coming into power forgot their claims they had made before general elections. “Instead of putting limit on the powers of government agencies, the rulers are making legislation on Pakistan Protection Ordinance to provide protection to the unconstitutional steps of agencies,” he added.
The VBMP chairman claimed that Pakistan Protection Ordinance would be against the basic rights of citizens; therefore the government should not get it approved from the assembly. He said that violation of human rights remained continued throughout Balochistan in 2013 and the VBMP made all democratic efforts for the recovery of missing persons and bringing to an end kill and dump incidents.
“My brother was tortured by security agencies before we launched long march,” he said, adding that if any member of VBMP was harmed, the government and secret agencies would be responsible for it.
He demanded that if the missing persons had committed any crime or unlawful activity, they should be produced before the court and given a chance to prove their innocence.
He appealed to the international humanitarian organisation to play their role for early recovery of the missing persons.
