Punjab Govt rules out op against terrorists in S Punjab

LAHORE - Punjab Government has ruled out any operation against terrorism in Southern Punjab or anywhere else in the province, declaring such step as unjustified and unlogical at all. Operation becomes imperative at the place where writ of the government is challenged and the govt offices and officials become non-functional, as happened in Swat and Waziristan. This was said by Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa, Senior Advisor to Punjab CM and central leader of the PML (N) while talking to the Nawa-i-Waqt. He said that the Punjab govt writ is fully functional in Southern Punjab, Central Punjab and everywhere in the province while the law enforcing institutions are fully active to eradicate terrorism. Acts of terror are being committed in Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar and even in Islamabad. Such acts cannot be made reason for any operation. Operations are made in places like Swat, Malakand and Waziristan where govt writ was paralysed. Thank God there no such situation prevails anywhere in Punjab. Rehman Malik, therefore, cannot be authorised to declare an operation in Punjab on the basis of terror acts in the province, Khosa said. He said that a new department to break the terrorists network, has been set up which will work in coordination with the elite forces and other such institutions. sHe alleged the govt for being responsible for boosting the trend of terror all over the country due to its wrong policies.
