Nation renews pledge to protect motherland

BAHAWALPUR -The heirs of the martyrs of the armed forces of Pakistan and the common public observed the Pakistan Martyrs Day and paid rich tributes to Shuhada during a special ceremony.
The day dawned with special prayers in the city and Cantonment mosques for the national integrity. The services of the armed forces were highly acknowledged and rich tributes were paid to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the motherland on different occasions.
Ceremonies were held in connection with Youm -e-Shuhada with especial participation of the families of Shuhada at Bahawalpur Cantonment and its satellite stations including Okara, Bahawalnagar, Dera Nawab Sahib and Mailsi.
Bahawalpur Corps Commander Lie-Gen Javed Iqbal laid the wreath and offered Fatihah at the Shuhada Monument. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the significance of the sacrifices made by the Shuhada and paid homage to them. He also acknowledged the perseverance displayed by the families and the support rendered by the Pakistani nation.
Relatives of Shuhada also spoke on the occasion and reaffirmed their resolve for the defence of the Country. In the end, children of various schools, colleges and university presented national songs.
