PAEC to hold seminar on breast oncology

Islamabad - Breast cancer is a very common type of cancer in Pakistan, as it constitutes 33 per cent of all cancers in females and 17 per cent overall cancer cases.
According to WHO statistics, globally the risk of developing breast cancer is one in every four women. Unfortunately in Pakistan more than 60 per cent of breast cancer patients were present with advanced disease due to lack of awareness and certain social cultural taboos. Fortunately breast cancer is one of those cancers, which are not only treatable and curable but can also be prevented, by change of lifestyle. Early detection and treatment of breast cancer are very important to control this devastating disease. Early detection is possible with the help of screening. Breast cancer screening services including clinical breast examination and mammography are available in all the cancer hospitals of PAEC.
NORI cancer Hospital Islamabad has been providing dedicated breast cancer screening services since 1996.
October is breast cancer awareness month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. NORI Islamabad is regularly organizing this campaign.
