Flood affected areas

Floods are the type of natural disaster that can cause heavy destruction to life and property. The recent flood disaster caused by heavy rainfall and the subsequent flooding in many parts of Pakistan has been devastating. Floods have become a common feature in our country during the rainy season. Heavy downpour for so many consecutive days has affected so many areas adversely.

Monsoon rains have affected Balochistan, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and KP. The estimated number of affected people is around 30 million, and 1 million houses are totally damaged leaving behind millions in need of urgent shelter. There has been a huge loss of life and property, not only people, but many helpless animals have perished.

Houses have suffered severe damage, and personal belongings, valuables, furniture, vehicles etc, all have drowned away. Farmers whose only mode of income is their crops are the worst affected. The heavy rains have destroyed the crops and have zero hope and chance left for recovery.

Therefore, I wish to utilize this space to request the concerned authorities and the general public to come forward and help rescue the flood victims faster. Contributions and donations, in the form of cash, food, clothes, basic essentials and medicines to them. I appeal to the people of our country to come forward in helping the flood-stricken people in the affected area.

ZAIB UN NISA NAEEM,
