Comprehensive framework needed for textile industry development, says Tarin

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Advisor to Prime Minister Advisor on Finance, Shaukat Tarin here on Wednesday stressed the need for a comprehensive framework for the development of textile sector. A meeting to discuss various textile sector problems and other related issues was held here which was jointly chaired by Shaukat Tarin and Federal Minister for Textile Industry, Rana M Farooq S. Khan. Shaukat Tarin said that textile was the most important sector of countrys economy which he said was facing many problems. He stressed the need for encouraging private sector, saying that there was need to find out ways, and means, to overcome problems. He also emphasized the need to approach better international Markets. Likewise, he said, more textile cities in line with Karachi Textile city should be developed for generating economic activities. It was decided during the meeting that a committee would be constituted to monitor the textile sector and for the performance appraisal of the recommendation. The meeting was informed that the government would provide funds for Human resource development and capacity building. Secretary and Joint Secretary M/O Textile Industry, Chairmen APTMA, Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association, All Pakistan Bedware Exporters Association, Pakistan Textile Exporters Association and PRGMEA were also present on this occasion. Minister of State for Finance and economic affairs, Ms. Hinna Rabbani Khar also attended the meeting.
