Iraqi father suing Blackwater over sons death

WASHINGTON - An Iraqi businessman is suing the US security contractor formerly known as Blackwater, claiming it is responsible for his sons shooting death in Baghdad. The Charlotte (North Carolina) Observer reported a lawsuit filed by the Lewis and Roberts law firm on behalf of M Kinani is the last pending US legal case stemming from the 2007 shootings of Iraqi citizens in Baghdads Nisoor Square at the hands of Blackwater employees. Kinani, whose young son was among the 30 people hurt or killed in the incident, said he wants to have his day in court to punish those responsible. Kinani alleges Blackwater, the North Carolina security firm now known as Xe Services LLC, once attempted to stop him from asking questions about the incident by offering him $20,000. I said I dont want anything, Kinani told the Observer. All I need is for the Blackwater president to apologise for killing of my son. They refused to apologise. Another civil suit filed against Blackwater on behalf of survivors and families of Nisoor Square victims was settled this month for undisclosed amounts.
