Shouldnt we all thank ex-President Parvez Musharraf for issuing the NRO and dismissing the sitting Chief Justice of Pakistan of his time? Both unholy acts have turned out to be blessings in disguise. Without the NRO and with out dismissing the CJP we would have never known how many thousands have been looting our wealth. The sum total of their booty might run into trillions of rupees. That is good news for our treasury which might someday get that money, or at least a part of it, back in the kitty now that these people are 'In the Line of Fire, so to say. Since all the leaders have been stripped of their cloaks now, we can also vote for fresh blood worthy of running the affairs of this country. The dismissal of the CJP, may I point out, has made the lawyers community a well-knit force behind the judiciary which also has support of the entire nation. For its part, the judiciary has also vowed to dispense justice at all costs. Musharraf also established democracy through election. Although lame and ineffective, at least a beginning was made. Let us build on that. Lastly as a parting gift, he also gave us a professional and level-headed Army Chief. -WING COMMADER (Rtd) H. A. KHWAJA, Islamabad, January 28.
