The news has recently been in the media that the Pakistan International Airlines has expanded its fleet to 38 planes with its recent purchase of another Boeing 777-200 ER. It is commendable to note that the PIA fleet size has doubled over the last one and a half years.
The national airline is now also comfortably cruising upwards and has achieved a gross operating profit of PKR 2.83 billion in the 1st quarter of 2015. This is against a gross operating loss of PKR 3.93 billion in the 1st quarter of 2014.
It is heartening to see the national flag carrier streamlining its operations by inducting the latest versions of fuel-efficient aircraft in place of old ones that used a lot of fuel.
The new aircraft will not only increase the airline’s passenger carrying capacity, but will also facilitate those who have to regularly travel on long distance routes to UK, Europe, USA and Canada.
