Champion Perniya lifts double crowns in National Master Cup TT

PESHAWAR   -  Parniya Khan of Wapda clinched the National Master Cup Table Tennis title after defeating her strong rival former national champion Aisha Sherjeeal (Wapda) 4-3 in the thrilling final played here at Olympian Lala Rafique Sports Arena, Qayyum Sports Complex on Monday. 

Perniya was three games down but she staged a strong comeback and won the four consecutive games to grab the title. Conceding three sets (11-13, 14-12 and 9-11) against Aisha, talented Perniya first leveled the tally 3-3 when she won the fourth, fifth and sixth games 13-11, 15-13 and 11-9 and then she took the decisive game after a strong fight at 17-15. 

In the boys singles, Wapda’ Shah Khan stunned current national champion Faizan Zahoor of Army 4-0 with a score of 11-9, 13-11, 15-13 and 11-9. In boys’ team event final, Wapda routed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 3-1. In the first singles, Shah recorded victory against Ummam Khawaja 3-2. In other singles, Fahad Khawaja defeated Khawaja Haseeb 3-1, KP’s Shayan Farooq defeated Wapda’s Hafeez 3-2 and Fahad Kh beat Ummam Kh 3-0 to help Wapda emerged as boys team event winners. 

Former Director General Sports and Secretary Establishment Engineer Khanzeb Khan graced the occasion as chief guest. Youth Ambassador of the US Embassy in Pakistan Absar Ali, Director Tournament Jabir Ali, KPTA SVP Kifayat Ullah, players and spectators witnessed the enthralling final.
